The alphorn for every situation

Swiss craftsmanship

Our AlpenSax are made from mountain spruce. The cup is made from spruce wood, the cup rim as well as the bows are made from Swiss walnut. For transporting the AlpenSax we recommend our practical AlpenSax bag. Put together your individual AlpenSax package from our extensive range of accessories. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

With respect and awareness of the Swiss alphorn tradition, we search for the perfect sound.

About Simon Keller

Alphorns have long fascinated Simon Keller. So it was only logical that he started playing the alphorn in his free time many years ago.

When he discovered the AlpenSax in 2017, he was fascinated and enthusiastic about this instrument on the one hand, but also dissatisfied with the quality it offered on the other. He did not see why he needed two instruments to play with friends in the two common tunings (F#/Gb and F). So he decided to construct a prototype of an AlpenSax that he could use to play in both tunings. A year later, a friend commissioned him to build such an AlpenSax 1.0.

Simon Keller improved the prototype and with the AlpenSax 2.0, an instrument was created that is easy to play, elegant and cleanly crafted and offers the possibility of switching between F#/Gb and F with ease. The first AlpenSax 2.0 left his workshop in February 2021.

Inspired by this success, Simon Keller decided to found the SUISSEWOOD brand. Due to the positive reception from customers, the product range has been continuously expanded, and a six-piece alphorn has now been added to the range.
